BANGALORE, FEB. 3. The State Government has categorically denied the charges levelled by the former Prime Minister and MP, Deve Gowda, that there were large-scale irregularities in the implementation of Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. The Minister for Higher Education, G. Parameshwar, told presspersons here today that Mr. Gowda had made vague allegations against the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, and the former Chief Secretary, B.S. Patil. The allegations were baseless and false. Mr. Gowda should have been specific while levelling charges against Mr. Krishna and Mr. Patil, the minister said. There was no such irregularity or corruption in the acquisition of land or allotment of tenders. The government would not order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation since no irregularities had taken place, he said. Stating that the provisions made in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) could be changed from time to time for effective implementation of the project, Mr. Parameshwar said the Government would definitely look into misuse of land or funds if any. The Government would give a fitting reply to the charges made by Mr. Gowda in his letter to the Chief Minister. The Government had been helping the private firm to clear all procedures. "The Government is allowing private participation in the development in a big way," he added.
