Land acquisition for expressway upheld

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday upheld the acquisition of lands for the formation of peripheral, link and service roads related to the expressway between Mysore and Bangalore.

While dismissing a batch of writ petitions filed by land owners challenging the acquisition of land for the multi-crore expressway taken up by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises, Justice Chandrashekharaiah, however, quashed the acquisition of land for formation of townships and the like.

He, however, reserved liberty to the State to issue fresh notification for the purpose and liberty to landowners to contest the same.
