BANGALORE: The Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Limited has welcomed the Karnataka High Court decision to ‘set aside the single Judge’s order’ in connection with land acquisition for the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.
In a release issued here, NICEL stated that the single judge, while hearing a batch of petitions by land owners in the BMIC project area, had ruled that the land acquisition, except for peripheral road, Expressway, Interchange etc., was illegal.
However, the division bench comprising Chief Justice N.K. Sodhi and Justice S. Padmaraj, on Monday held that ‘the order of the single judge in so far as it declared the acquisition of land for purposes other than road was illegal was un-sustainable and therefore set aside that part of the order’, the release noted.
The bench also allowed an appeal filed by the Indian Machine Tools Manufacturers Association, who had been given 30 acres of land in Madavara and Madanayakanahalli villages, the release added. |
