Denotification orders on lands under BMIC project demanded

The JD (S) State unit on Saturday threatened to launch an agitation if the State government failed to issue de-notification orders on lands that were acquired and allegedly misused under Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) Project in Bangalore North and South taluks.

Speaking to reporters, senior JD(S) leader H Ekantaiah alleged that the government has acquired hundreds of acres of lands in the name of the project without having any specification about land use pattern. “When there is no specific purpose, on what basis did the government acquire lands,” he questioned.
Referring to statements by some ministers that all decisions on the project were taken during the tenure of H D Deve Gowda as the chief minister, he said that the then government had permitted only lease out of the acquired land to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises. But the present Congress Government in separate orders has given permission for the sale.

Following this order, he alleged the NICE has already sold 110 acre prime land at throw away price. The government has violated the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) Act by selling these lands. Any land acquired under this Section should be declared as industrial area and the same cannot be sold, he added.
