ESG
welcomes volunteers to support its activities in a variety of areas.
Contribution to the progress of vital environmental and social justice
work is a good opportunity for individuals with an interest in more socially
and environmentally equitable development. A sample of the areas
of work are:
Campaigns: Involvement in campaign work is fundamental to being part of ESG. The experience gained from campaigning on issues related to environmental and social justice concerns, primarily in collaboration with affected communities, is analysed from a variety of perspectives and the knowledge gained fed forward to various advocacy initiatives focused on reform of law and policy. Volunteers with a wide variety of skills and interests have been involved in ESG's campaigns in several ways. Research and Documentation: Documentation is critical, especially in the case of campaign work, where, due to lack of access to information, much information is gathered through publicly available media such as newspapers, magazines, newsletters. To facilitate good documentation, major newspapers are reviewed and indexed on a daily basis. This is an excellent way to keep abreast of what's happening in India and the world. Research: Research and data collection whether field research or literature surveys are required in most aspects of ESG's work and serve as inputs in project reports and solutions, campaign strategies and lobbying. Workshops and Training: Training programmes to a wide variety of target groups in the areas of environmental science, ecology, land use pattern, urban planning, website development, environmental health, environmental law is a priority. For highly committed experts in the field with a flare and expertise for such non-academic teaching in environmental and social sciences, ESG may be the right place to enroll for active participation. |
